Sound Reuse Artworks

The Garden of Sounds

Six sound sculptures to explore through listening.

The Garden of Sounds

The Garden of Sounds is an installation of six sound sculptures made through the creative reuse of discarded materials. Walking through the garden, visitors encounter unusual plants, metal mushrooms and structures that invite them to touch, shake and strike: a landscape to explore in search of “new sounds for a new world”.

The work was conceived by Rocco Papìa and the artists of the ISRAW collective during a residency at the Italo Calvino House of Culture in Calderara di Reno, as part of Boom Cantiere Creativo 2022.

The residency took place within the European Union’s Erasmus+ programme, in collaboration with CULTURARA, the Culture Department of the Municipality of Calderara di Reno and Cronopios. Documentation includes photographs of the installation and dossiers in Italian, English and Spanish.
