ORT brings together creative reuse, world music, jazz and musical traditions. A chair, a bicycle wheel, a surfboard fitted with strings, a suitcase or marbles become instruments. Objects and materials bring their own sounds and stories onto the stage in a performance connecting music, ecology and creativity.
Original compositions alternate with pieces from the Iberian Peninsula, the Mediterranean and South America. Research into instruments made from reclaimed materials is part of the music itself: a starting point for new timbres, arrangements and expressive possibilities.
Rocco Papìa plays seven-string guitar and reusonic string instruments, and sings. Founder of Jacaré and Árduo, he is a composer, performer, workshop designer and instrument inventor. Xavi Lozano brings traditional and reusonic winds, voice and extensive research into aerophones built from many different materials. Antonio Sánchez Barranco combines traditional percussion and everyday objects, drawing on his work with Coetus and collaborations with Silvia Pérez Cruz, Maria del Mar Bonet and other artists.
For schools, the project offers two complementary experiences: the concert «Música de l’Insòlit» and the workshop «New Sounds for a New World». The concert can take place in theatres, auditoriums and equipped venues, or in smaller spaces and semi-acoustic settings. The workshop requires no previous musical knowledge; the recommended age is eight and above.
Live videos and coverage by Euronews Culture, El Periódico, RTVE, Betevé, La Xarxa and Fildmedia document both the project and the instrument-building process. Presentation dossiers in several languages, a technical rider and school materials are available. Request the press kit at orquestareusonica@gmail.com.
