Una Corda Més
Five violin strings, seven guitar strings.

Núria Balcells and Rocco Papìa have each added a string to their instrument: the five-string violin opens up the lower register, while the seven-string guitar expands the duo’s orchestral possibilities. This shared approach is at the heart of Una Corda Més, a meeting driven by dialogue and mutual inspiration.
The programme «Recançonem» revisits the Cançoner Popular Català, the modernist collection of Catalan oral-tradition songs published more than a century ago. Travelling from East to West, these songs tell of young women, bandits, love and revenge. The musicians reinterpret them while explaining their stories and context during the concert.
The «Una Corda Més» repertoire travels through Brazil, Piazzolla’s tangos, Ireland, Eastern Europe and Catalan roots music. Traditional pieces take on a personal character, with warm sonorities, rhythmic intensity, energetic passages and quieter moments. Anecdotes and short introductions accompany the listening experience. Catalan and English dossiers provide further information about the programmes.
