La Famiglia Scannapiece

The story of La Famiglia Scannapiece takes shape during a journey to Mitrovica, Kosovo, in September 2002, for a concert organised within Mobile Culture Container. Borders, encounters and the difficulties of the route become part of the group’s history.

Playing for Albanian and Serbian young people changes their way of thinking about music. Traditional and world-music repertoire becomes a meeting ground, freely arranged and joined by new compositions. The journey and the individual musicians’ personalities enter the ensemble’s sound.

Papìa’s guitars and other string instruments intertwine with clarinets, saxophone, double bass, drums and percussion. La Famiglia Scannapiece belongs to the artist’s historical archive.
