Circolo Odeòn
Brazilian choro and Italian dance halls.

Circolo Odeòn connects Brazilian choro with Romagna’s liscio and Bologna’s filuzzi. The meeting of European dances and Afro-Brazilian rhythms within choro opens a dialogue with related Italian repertoires: their common ground is the early twentieth-century dance hall on both sides of the ocean.
The ensemble uses traditional choro instruments: seven-string guitar, bandolim, pandeiro, flute and clarinet. The album «Circolo Odeòn», released in June 2013, was recorded live in the studio by Andrea Scardovi at DunaStudio in Russi. Alongside Pixinguinha, Jacob do Bandolim and other Brazilian composers, it includes «Inverno» and «Cosettina» by Angelo Ragazzini.
The documentation also records work on Secondo Casadei’s repertoire using original scores. The project belongs to the artist’s historical archive.
