21 Strings Duo
Two musicians, twenty-one strings.

Capurso-Papìa Duo began between Bologna and Barcelona, bringing together two musicians researching the contemporary possibilities of seven-string guitar. Rocco Papìa plays an instrument connecting flamenco and Brazilian traditions; Giulio Capurso uses a self-built double seven-string electric guitar, played with a tapping technique.
These unusual instruments give «21 Strings Duo» its name: twenty-one strings in a dialogue between different timbres and approaches. In 2018, Capurso and Papìa were invited to the Premio Tenco at Sanremo’s Teatro Ariston, presenting a concert dedicated to composers from the award’s 42 editions.
Videos and photographs document the project, now held in the archive of ensembles no longer active.
